photo hunt: what is that?

I've had a busy week, and was going to skip this week's Photo Hunt "What IS that?" theme. However, I couldn't resist pulling out my camera when stopped at a red light today. I looked up in the sky and saw this:

I don't have any ideas. Anybody?

The first thing I thought of when I saw that today's Photo Hunt theme were the pointed spikes on my "baby" cactus.

Yes, if you look closely, you can see dust on the spikes. How do you dust a cactus?

Even though this little guy is only a couple inches tall, it is hardly a baby. We bought a cactus seed kit on a family vacation to Arizona or New Mexico. When I was 10.

This tiny thing is 23 years old!

It has started growing better ever since I moved it from a small terracotta pot to a glazed ceramic one, but it's still very small.

One of my favorite photos, taken from one of my favorite places.

This was the view from our rented beach house in the Outer Banks, North Carolina a couple years ago. We go back next month. I can't wait!

I can't resist posting this photo of Joey as well. This is why I'll only drink out of plastic cups around my house ...

photo hunt: bad hair

When I saw the theme this week, I knew what I had to do.

6th grade graduation, 1987

This "bad hair" was with me from 1987-1989 when I finally managed to grow it out. The bad glasses did not help things.

After this experience, I refused to cut layers again for over 10 years.

I almost forgot! This week's theme is "Self."

Rather than use an old photo, I just grabbed my camera and started pointing it at my face.

Today's been a lazy day (well, since this morning's swim, anyway). I showered at the pool and pulled my hair into a ponytail, where it's been all day.

I never bothered putting on make-up, even though I actually left the house for a quick shopping trip. I usually make a little effort if I'm going out in public, but not today. At least I swapped the gym shorts for some capri pants!

Anyway, this is me today. Unedited. I guess I felt like being honest again. (At least I'm awake this time!)

I was going to take a new photo, but decided I'd much rather use this classic timepiece that was on display in our rented beach house last summer:

This was supposed to be up yesterday, but I was busy with parents and performing. So here I am posting three times in an hour!

This is my first time participating in Photo Hunt, but I couldn't resist the theme, unique/funny signs. My favorite!

The reason I know about the theme this week is that people saw this in my Weekly Winners last week and suggested it.

I have a few more in my collection, though!
