photo hunt: what is that?

I've had a busy week, and was going to skip this week's Photo Hunt "What IS that?" theme. However, I couldn't resist pulling out my camera when stopped at a red light today. I looked up in the sky and saw this:

in the sky

I don't have any ideas. Anybody?

How high are they and are they over the roadway? Perhaps they are some type of clearance warning for high loads?

Baker -- they were quite high -- there were other regular-height power lines running below them!

Though, just a thought ... it was taken close to Washington, DC -- maybe it's the start of the no-fly zone?

Actually my first thoughts were of some type of low-flying aircraft warning but I was thrown off by the fact they were hanging. If there is an airport in the area that may be what they are.

I frequently see high wires in the vicinity of an airport (even a small landing strip) that have what I presume is a large plastic ball attached as a visual warning to low-flying aircraft. They are probably required for structures/lines of a certain height particularly if they are in the landing approach.
